Welcome!

We were introduced to Geocaching in June of 2012.  Since then, our Geocaching Team "Toys That Travel" came together as a way to get our family out exploring the world with our young son & daughter.  We especially love starting new caches in our home state of Maine and launching new “Trackables”.

Beyond the obvious appeal of "searching for things that have been hidden", Geocaching means a lot of things to our family. It was introduced to us when I was pregnant with our second child.  At the time our son was almost 4 and full of energy and I was too tired to think.  Initially Geocaching allowed me to provide fun (& free) outdoor adventures without having to engage my brain (...just make the blue blinking dot get closer to the green marker, I can handle that).
His sister was born in November, and, living in Maine, we did not take our new, little babe out into the elements much until about March.  By spring our 4 y.o. not only had cabin fever but was really missing his mama - who he seemed to have lost to tiny sister. With the arrival of warmer weather Mama Bear and her two cubs ventured farther and farther from home and Geocaching, once again, provided the mission and motivation.  I'm guessing some of my son's fondest childhood memories, particularly ones of him and I, will be of Geocaching.
